Solar Energy: An Eco-Friendly Alternative

Most of us live our lives enjoying the benefits of the sun without really thinking about the star’s massive benefits. Without the sun there would be no daylight, no plants or flowers, no natural warmth and no seasons. It’s safe to say that without the presence of the sun, our earth as we know it would cease to exist. The sun’s heat has already shaped our world and the lives of those in it, but harnessing the power of solar energy has the potential for just as important of an impact.

What Is Solar Energy?

The term ‘solar energy’ refers to the heat energy given off by the sun. When harnessed as thermal energy, solar energy can heat water and spaces; everything from a swimming pool to a country estate. However, the most exciting application is the use of solar energy as a replacement for fossil fuels to create electricity. Much of the way we live in the modern world relies on the power of electricity, which currently relies on non-renewable forms of energy such as coal, oil and natural gas.

Why Solar Energy?

Since our current forms of energy are non-renewable, there is a finite amount on earth that is being rapidly used up. Additionally, when converting the current fuels to electricity, byproducts are created that pollute the environment. Unlike non-renewable resources, solar energy is virtually unlimited and creates no pollution, providing a glimmer of hope for the sustainable future. The only drawbacks to harnessing solar energy is that the availability of sunlight depends on the day and time, and that large surface areas are necessary to collect enough solar energy for use. With the continuing advancement of solar technology this challenge should be solved in the near future.

Kalia & Solar Energy

Kalia’s commitment to sustainable luxury includes heating the water in our homes with solar energy. Each home has solar panels on the roof that help lessen the home’s burden on the environment through harnessing a renewable source of usable energy.

  1. Have you ever considered adding more videos to your blog posts to keep the readers more entertained? I mean I just read through the entire article of yours and it was quite good but since I’m more of a visual learner

Great post. I find this to be a really fascinating topic and you put a new spin on it for me. Thanks! :)

  3. Thanks for posting this article. I’m definitely frustrated with struggling to search out relevant and brilliant commentary on this subject. Everybody now goes to the very far extremes to either drive home their viewpoint that either: everyone else in the planet is wrong, or two that everyone but them does not really understand the situation. Many thanks for your succinct, applicable insight.

Solar Powered electricity has been used for commercial purposes since the 1970?s, and it is in use now more than ever before. As new government regulations on clean coal come to pass, the cost of electricity is expected to skyrocket. Many business owners are turning to solar powered electricity as a way to reduce costs. Most of the electricity we use in the United States comes from coal burning power plants. The coal has energy stored in it that came from the sun millions of years ago. The coal needs to be burned to release this energy. It is cleaner and much more efficient to use the energy that is coming from the sun right now. By eliminating the need to burn coal, your company is will be a leader in the reduction of pollution. Solar powered panels can either be mounted on the roof or your structure, or they can be installed as ground units. During the daylight hours, these panels will collect and store energy from the sun. After peak sunlight hours the stored energy will run the electricity for you business. If you need more electricity than what the panels can produce, it will come from the utility company. Solar powered electricity is a way to reduce your use of coal burning electrical power. Solar power is quiet, and it produces no waste by product. By going with solar powered electricity, you are also making a wise investment for your company. A business or factory with solar powered panels installed will depreciate much slower than similar businesses that have no solar power. Public relations is also very important to business owners, and by owning a solar powered business, you are telling your clients and the public that you don?t just pay lip service to the devotion of a greener planet, you are part of the solution. Your potential customers will see you as an innovator, and people like doing business with innovators.

  5. Morning

Is there something unusual with your blog or with my Internet Explorer? I keep clicking on the rss feed and I get some strange code from the web browser. The feed content shows many strange characters and it looks messy. Maybe it’s from the new module I set up to get the subscription feeds into a custom way. Funny, never the less.

    Take Care!

  14. As energy prices sky rocket the prices of solar panels will only go up. This will hopefully prove that solar panels will be a great investment for anyone wanting to save some money or help the environment. Either way, solar panels really should be at the top of the “to do” list. Someone has recommended Buy Solar Panels as they compare solar panel brands so ill see what they say.
